Welcome to the Darkside :-D You'll find that your best bet is to look in the FS section here. Prices and selection is good and shipping often cheap (unlike what you may be used to in reefing).
What size tank? Lighting CO2?

You'll likely want to look out for:
Anubias Nana (petite as well)
Marsalia (minuta preferred but quad also ok)
Crypt Willisii, Crypt Lucens x Willisii
Various moss.

Those can all tollerate low light/no CO2 but will grow very slow in those conditions. They are small and easy to get in the FS section.

Not that dark. It's still lighted, dimly. :) Are you the same Gomer from Reef Central?

I just filled an Evolve 8 with Fluorite substrate. Stock lighting: it's surprisingly bright. No CO2. I just love the green-scape and the tranquility of a planted tank. Such a nice change of pace.

I did pick up some nice crypt, ferns, and frobit from Intermediate_noob (very nice guy). So, I just need some really short foreground plants.

Thanks for the great tips. I was hoping to buy local, to be sure they come from healthy tanks. But, you are right: plants are cheaper to ship.
