Not much for options in Boston/Cambridge, but there are some outside of it. Are you going to have a car to drive around in or are you going to be on the MBTA, and is there any specifics that your into? Figure that info might help point you in the right direction.

There's also saltwater shops as well if your into that as well.
Yes I'll be driving but last time I went I remember parking being a bit of a headache, but I guess that's expected in any major city.

I'm looking for great fresh water stores with popular items such as DW, seriyu stones, equipment, etc.

Thanks!!
I'd check out lovely pets in quincy. Its a short walk from the quincy center red line station. They don't have seriyu stones but they have some cool driftwood and lace rock. They also have some cool livestock to check out. The gentleman who owns the shop is very nice and helpful.

Theres lovely pets in qunicy, thats the closest.

If you have a car and willing to drive, you can visit uncle ned's fish factory, Tropical isles, Unique aquaria (if their freshwater department is still open), and Aqua View design.

I feel like we never talk about aqua view design, their website shows it to be such a nice place. It might be the only true planted tank store besides aquaful in our area.
Agreed with aqua view design, although they are quite a way out of town so that might be why. Go to Uncle Ned's or if you have the time try aqua view design (lots of nice shrimp like TBs, plants etc.)
excellent, thanks guys! hobbes. i want your crabs. i reached out to bill to get some on my own.. :D just a pair to start off for now.

:) I happen to get in another shipment this weekend (at least that's when they should arrive). Purples and red. Very excited!

you got moar!?!?!

haha sick!
hehe it's like an addiction or something. Now that I have babies on the reds, I want purples as well :)
Always forget about that aquaview place. I'll probably make the drive myself in a week or 2.

If coming from NY i'd hit up Aqua Dreams Aquarium, and Aqua View Design on the way to Boston.

Underwater world in Taunton Jays Aquatics in Salem NH right over the border

Neds fish factory in Millis as mentioned is always a good stop

Tropical isle in framingham as mentioned

There's also h4n but you'll have to get in touch with him via email.

I'm making some shopping trips today with some tpt members i'll find out about UA status.

It's not a shop but the New England Aquarium is a good trip to make, and ocean explorium in New Bedford.

Aqua View is amazing imo, but quite a drive from Boston. If anyone from Boston ever wants to visit, I'm pretty close and would be happy meet up there and possibly swap plants or whatever...
oh yea! han! I gotta pm him!

Local reef guy's SW fish room. We were in the neighborhood so we paid a visit.

Here's my 2nd visit to UniqueAquaria @ 1699 Shawsheen Road, Tewksbury MA since 1st week of July 2013.

We bought all their pumpkin shrimps so no more. 25+ amanos left. 10+ fire, 10 cherries, 10 grey Neocaridina or possibly hybrid bee. Two 7.7lb bags of that Onyx Sand from Seachem left. Decent assortment of Malaysian driftwoods for $10 each. The larger pieces were sold out already.

Very nice rainbow loaches & bumblebee goby, 3" SAE, 7" Farlowella (Twig Catfish), etc.... All looking for new homes within the next month or so.

I forget the name of those red killifish, but there was 3 of them, very nice & RARE to see in a shop.

If you want an alternative to Celestial Pearl Danios

Stopped by AquaticTreasures the other night. Spoke with Sheldon while he packed a SW order for another customer. I wanted to inquire about the person selling rimless "Low Iron" tanks based out of Newton. He's never heard of him or that particular brand.

AquaticTreasures is located 35 Galen St, Watertown, MA 02472

  • 6-8x Danio erythromicron
  • 12 to 15 Poropanchax/Aplocheilichthys normani
  • About 20+ pieces of Malaysian driftwood = priced 1/2 of what LV charges.
  • petrified wood.
  • Only had 1 crystal shrimp remaining
2 really nice saltwater fish....
  • Flame Angelfish
  • some sort of baby blue/purple Anthias

You mean Anthony? "low iron" is not a brand its a type of tank.
Aqua view designs is an excellent store! I used to go there all the time in college. Aqua dreams is excellent for saltwater. There's also a really good store in southampton and one in longmeadow (or ludlow). Western mass has some really, really good local shops.

The owner of aqua view designs also sells stuff on aquabid and "the bay of e." I'm not sure if I can post her name or not but PM me if you want it.
