So i just got back from a trip to tennessee and while i was there, we went to a river that was really clear and was filled with these small ish fish that kinda like sat on top of rocks in the river. I called them rock fish the whole time but im sure im totally wrong ='). Any ideas! Really loved them!!!

definitely not that, but i did see a fish that looked similar. It was more so a dark green about one and a half inches long and have like an arrow on its upper body close to the head that rapped around it. That fish was fast as hell!

So it looks like a darter tetra? Little confused if you mean it looks like the pic or it's actually green?

Similar to the pic you posted, maybe it's a Black Darter Tetra (Poecilocharax Weitzmani)

or from the green description you gave, maybe a Green Darter Tetra (Ammocryptocharax Elegans)

Or maybe it's one of the Etheostoma darters:

banded darter (Etheostoma zonale)
orangethroat darter (Etheostoma spectabile)
rainbow darter (Etheostoma caeruleum)
greenside darter (Etheostoma blennioides)
swamp darter (Etheostoma fusiforme)

Tangerine darter (Percina aurantiaca)?

lol...cmon has to be one of these.
There's actually a ton more, but some are specific locality and don't match the description.

Would you know what kind this is ? I wouldn't call them common, but they are in the Pearl River Game Management Aria in La. If I knew their name I could see if they are listed in Ar. where I now live.

ok so its definitly a darter of some swort, but to me it didnt look anything like that one. It had some amazing patterns to it and i want to say it looked alot like this one
