I did not use the search feature, but my mother has a plant that she grows in a bowl with marbles in water. I was wondering if I could use it in the tank. Could someone please link me to the info or tell me how I can check if non store bought plants are safe. Thanks! This forum is really well run and has great info keep it up.

most emerged plants, that could go submerged.. are usually in the forest

Where did she get the plants from? I don't think I personally would put something growing in a pond outside in my aquarium. There are dips that you can use that will kill pathogens, snails, algae etc. but I wouldn't rely on this to kill all pathogens.
