i learned this information from a famous breeder , Lotsoffish

and think again about using hardwood leaves in aquarium

(Florida Live Oak Leaves, Silver Maple, Sugar Maple, American Elm, Pin Oak and Beech Leaves , etc...)

that pretty well known, same principal as almond leaves. I prefer almond leaves as they are "sturdier". They last a lot longer, are genearlly larger, and break down slower. Infusoria and paramecium both can be produced from their breakdown (both hardwood and almond leaves). Be cautious that you collect leaves that 100% have not have any pesticides or any sort of spraying done.

I use Red Oak.

Some leaves are questionable. There's a Sp. of Oak maybe Black? I also think Maples are in question.
