that pretty well known, same principal as almond leaves. I prefer almond leaves as they are "sturdier". They last a lot longer, are genearlly larger, and break down slower. Infusoria and paramecium both can be produced from their breakdown (both hardwood and almond leaves). Be cautious that you collect leaves that 100% have not have any pesticides or any sort of spraying done.

I use Red Oak.

Some leaves are questionable. There's a Sp. of Oak maybe Black? I also think Maples are in question.

I have used oak leaves from my own hardwood bush property. No chemicals or sprays, so safe. The fish love it.
