Hello! I've been a lurker on this forum for well over a year, everyone on here is immensely helpful and has guided me through my fish journey from the start. Normally I can find a solution for all my problems just by searching these forums but I'm at a standstill right now. I recently upgraded my medium-heavy planted shrimp tank from a 10 gallon to a 15 gallon. I plopped the old 10 gallon sponge filter into the new 15 one along with all the java fern, anubias and moss balls (there was a LOT of duckweed and salvinia minima that I'm not moving over. like a 3/4" thick layer). In the old tank I put an air stone with the old pump so the tank is still getting some oxygen. I expected the tank to cycle relatively quickly as they are roughly the same size (i reduced the water in the 15 to roughly 10 gallons). However its almost been 5 days and I'm still getting readings of .25 ammonia. I'm really not in any rush other than I don't want the old tank parameters to start going out of wack since I got rid of the old filter, the readings have been good but I don't know when or if that will change. Should I just slowly start acclimating the shrimp today over 6-8 hours? or do I have enough time to wait another 5 days for it to hopefully be cycled. In the new tank I placed a mystery snail and nerite snail for ammonia who are both doing fantastic so far zooming around the tank and starting to clean. Attached is a picture of said new tank.
