I am upgrading my 10g to a 29g! woohoo. I got a top fin kit and stand for my birthday so i am excited to get this bad boy up and running. Now on to the goods!

Tank:
29g Top fin aquarium kit

Filtration:
2x topfin 30 whisper hob filter

Substrate:
Ecocomplete fine grade black

Lighting:
Finnex Ray2 30inch $75 on amazon!

Co2:
Fluval Mini Pressurized 20g-CO2 Kit. Took it off my ten gallon when I realized you didn't need it so I will try it with this tank.

5x candy cane tetra
3-5x dwarf shrimp

Flora(will receive most early next week from bamaplants.com):
Dwarf hair grass

I have attached the progress this far. I am currently doing a fish less cycle.

QUESTION:Should I wait until I put the plants in to add the fish?

I would think your fish would much prefer it if you planted your tank first. Once your tank is cycled, you could throw the fish in and then plant, but why would you want to stress the fish out like that?

Just purchased a 30" Finnex Monster Ray! The combo of the ray 2 and monster should get me to med light as well as keep my red plants red!

Update:
1 week so far so good! I cut back some of the red jungle val and any other melting/ dieing plants. I am going to be moving some things around later. I will update later.

Finnex Monster ray should come in this week! So hopefully adding this to my ray 2 will get my Baby tears, dwarf hairgrass, or dwarf sag to carpet.

Thank you! No I tore down the 10g . I did have a journal about it a while ago. It was low tech/ low light, so not much grew in it. The DHG I had in there grew and spread but very slowly. I am hoping that this tank with do much better!

How's the co2 setup?

So far so good but it has only been a week. The issue I have with it is that I can only the chambers 2 times a day. Once before and after work. It's cheap but there are better CO2 systems out there. If you are going to go to need CO2 in your tank I would go with another option. Something that diffuses the co2 better and with a bubble counter.

The Co2 canister connects to too chambers(seen on the front of the box) that you fill with Co2. Over time it diffuses into the water. The rate of which depends on how much surface disruption you have.

So you manually turn this on 2 times a day and you have no way of properly diffusing/circulating it in the water and you don't have a drop checker or way to calculate the amount of co2 in the tank?

Yeah I am just too cheap at the moment to upgrade. I thought about dosing liquid carbon as well.

I run a pressurized co2 setup and I still dose Excel every day if I remember to do so.
