So I've been given a free 40 gallon breeder tank and want to use it as my main tank. Any tips for switching tanks? I'm going to use the same canister filter. But I'm planning on dirting the new tank and capping with my normal substrate of choice...black diamond. Its heavily planted and I run pressurized co2. My main concern is the stress that the fish could go through. I was thinking about setting up the 40 and then acclimate the fish the same way as if I bought them from the store. What does everything think?

Thanks in advance!

so long as the water paramters are the same i don't see a reason to acclimate fish. i didn't when i upgraded from my 29g to my 40g.

the only thing i did, was net them out of the old tank and into the new one. i didn't rush them out of the net, i allowed them leave the net when they were ready.
