Hey guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently obtained a 75g and I am super excited to start it. I am planning on doing BDBS for substrate. I currently have Fluval Stratum and sand in my 30g planted. I would like to use this as a base for my new 75g to establish beneficial bacteria. However, I currently have some very mild black beard algae in my 30g (I obtained this established planted tank as a gift from a friend). Would transferring the substrate guarantee possibility of BBA growth in my new tank?

Additionally, should I not transfer over ANY plants that are visibly affected by BBA? Or are all the plants in my 30g technically contaminated? And therefore should I start completely fresh with all new plants and substrate, and even equipment in my 75g?

Thank you so much for any help :)
