So in my 30 gallon, I am looking at adding either a Fluval C4 or a AC70. Not looking to start a debate but suggestions appreciated LOL. Going from an AC50, which will be retired as a backup.
Either way, what would be my best bet for switching over from my current AC50? Without of course causing a new cycle?
Whatever you choose, just rinse all media from your old filter in tank water to get rid of the mulm and stick it in the new filter or run the new filter with your old filter side by side for 2 months and the bacteria will get in there on its own
Run both the old and new filter together for a few weeks minimum. Then just remove the old one once the new one's seeded with bacteria. Or transfer the media.
