here are pics of my 60gal island style tank...very proud of how my tank looks on the very very minimal budget i had to work with about a year ago...........what do you guys think?

Is your light DIY? Can you list your plants? Do you have anything under the sand?

no the light is a shoplight from hodepot($30),javafern,four leaf clover jungle val and the other cant think of them right now,and no,there is just sand for substrate i bought from homedepot($4-5)

thanks guys.ya my water is always crystal clear the tetra brand filters at wal-mart never fail me never break down or anything the one filter in my 46gal bowfront i have had for 5 years with no probs at all and still working like a charm

Yeah, those cheap filters are definitely reliable. I like them. Very nice tank, I have never been able to keep sand that clean looking.

The Tank looks great! Do you have just the one shop light? Is that the T-8 light from Home Depot. So you have only 80 watts of light for the 60 gallon tank you have some healthy looking plants. I was think of switching over to that light.

yes i have just the one shoplight on the tank.80 watts equals to i think it was about 1.3 watts per gallon.all my plants are very healthy i see my four leaf clover pop up new growth almost everyday

If you're using T8, its actually 64watts total, but they're still brighter than 40watt T12s btw.
