These are a nasty little creature without any predators to keep them in check

I'm reading up on them. I am moving my 10 to a 20H soon. Hate to lose all of my plants over these damn things.

Scuds are so cool, though. I had one once. It was so funny to watch, but then my betta ate it. I read that they only eat dead plant matter, so you shouldn't lose your plants to them.

Reading up on them I have read several reports of them eating shrimplets and attacking full grown shrimp after a molt. These dudes will have to go.
