I know a lot of people do not like UGF's, and some swear by them. But I have a UGF with a Reverse Flow AquaClear Powerhead 50 in my tank.

But, if you have a PowerHead on one side, do you cap the other side? Or do you just leave it be, so the water will flow out of it?

The Powerhead is pushing water down with the reverse flow on, but I am not sure on if I should cap the other side or not?

Thanks for the help and opinions on UGF's - Both pro and con.

I've had UGFs in some of my tanks for four decades. As long as the gravel is kept clean and loose they work fine.

I have AquaClear Powerheads these days on the UGfs. I definitely cap the hole on the other side. If not, then the water is going to flow out the area with least resistance which is that hole. You want the water to flow through the gravel.
