Because they work great in shrimp tanks.
Undergravel Filter | Airstone, Powerhead, HOB or Canister?

Guys,
I'm thinking of doing undergravel for the next tank im setting up. Gonna be 15 gallons. My concern is too much suction which shortens the life of the substrate. I want a good 2-3 years before having to redo the whole tank entirely instead of just a year like I have read. If longer, even better!
DIY hooking up to a canister for me seems too strong and unnecessary. Powerhead, still a bit too much right?
Whats left would be a HOB or Airstone. Anyone have any experience with these that could give suggestions or recommedations?
Soil would be ADA Aquasoil btw.
