In the middle of the night I woke up because of an odd smell of what was burning plastic. I laid there for awhile before I decided it could be coming from inside my condo so I took a look around. Turns out my heater in my bigger fish tank went psycho last night.

It killed everything in my tank, shorted out and almost started a fire in my surge protector.

What's the best way to deal with this tankastrophy? Water change? Obviously new heater...

Check your outlet for damages and then just buy a new heater. I don't know what else there would be to do.

Let me guess.. Stealth heater? There was a recall with them anyways, I would contact the company to see about helping you out with that.
