Well it's that time of year again for the back breaking task of spring cleaning on the pond. ........snip............

I have been looking for some Ludwigia sediodes to put in here this summer and hopefully can find some from a member here or else I have found an online source but would rather spend my money with people here.
.
Seems that L. Sediodes needs to be planted in clay only and should be kept with Koi...

If you can find a way to isolate it from the fish.

They generally don't recommend putting any plants with koi but I like both so I don't get too concerned with that. If they munch on some here and there that's the price you pay putting plants in a pond with koi. For the most part they leave them alone but do tend to eat on the roots of some of the plants. I have yet to order the L. sediodes yet but plan on trying it. I do have a few areas that I can keep most of the larger koi away from so may try placing it there.

On another note I have 6 koi less than I had last year. No bodies or signs of dead fish at all. So I would have to assume a critter has taken them from the pond. Either a neighborhood cat or raccoon. I may have to put out my live trap again and see what is roaming around in the dark. Last year I removed several possums and a raccoon.
