Hi PT members.
So I am messing around with this unit and I also have a another one that I will posting about later on with auto level adjust. It measures 2"L x 1 3/4"W x 6" H.

Internal filter with surface skimmer. Interesting... I can see the application but kind of bulky. Do you like it?

I have an EHEIM surface skimmer for duck weed and I use it after trimming plants. This would be a monster surface cleaner for my 140 gallon...

Interesting little bugger. May I ask you what sized tank you have this in? What (if any) other filtration are you using with it?

I am unable to read the labels in the 1st picture. Can you tell us the brand or point a finger to additional reading?

@boxboy It's installed on a 15 gallon rimless, this is good for small planted tanks.
thinking about building one for a larger tank.
@Wade0328 No the drop checker is not inside just next to it.
So far it's working, waiting for the self adjusting level model.
@the Chad Filtration is AIO system with a Canister filter.
@AGUILAR3 here are the specs:

Brand: Dake
Model: DK-10A
Pump 280 L/H - 74GPH

I think the surface skimming is a good idea, but beyond that it looks like it's similar in function to those old internal air driven box filters. Here is an example of a box filter - http://www.thatpetplace.com/economy-corner-filter-10-gal?sc=10&category=2730

Yea, they still make box filters, and they are cheep enough. The air bubbles would likely break up any surface scum, but with the loss of some CO2.

Personally I'd rather have a hang on tank filter, since it takes up almost 0 space in the tank, and is easy to remove to clean and maintain.
