I was just told if you trim off the flowers from aponogeton plants before they reach the surface the plant will not go dormant. is this true?

They bud when water cools, and grow as water warms.

They will go dormant when bulbs and water column are exhausted of nutrients. Light, Co2, and water parameters/temp all play into this.

That's cool to know. Been lookin to get some aponogetons recently, this makes them sound really interesting plants to have in a tank :]

Since I lived in a tropical country, My aponogetons such as madagascar and ulvaceus never became dormant. Cooler water makes it dormant. Like some sort of four seasons where tulip bulbs became dormant and flower in cool weather and in warm weather they grow. :3
