Trimming and pruning cobambas...

688 2
Any tips as to what to do with the "extra?" My tank is well stocked. I have the cobambas by the side of the tank. The tall ones are from 1 ft 6 inches to as long as 2ft. I don't have much room to replant them. Is it a good idea to trim the top half but to "remove" the older half and replant the newer stem the same spot. The older stems have been plagued with diatom earlier. They don't look as green.

They do get roots but no matter how you trim them the rooted end almost never rebounds nicely, I cut mine just above the second set of leaves then re-cut the trimmings to the desired size and replant. I don't know why I bother leaving the rooted plant in the substrate but they will grow in time.
