I was wondering if you all continue with your normal fert regimen when you do a major trim job on your tanks. I figured the plants in the tank couldn't use all the ferts in the water if they were slightly damaged from the trimming? Do you all just half what you would normally dose?

I do trims a day before water change day(which I don't dose on this day) and resume dosing schedule the following day.

i dont know about you but i do a water change, trim , and dose, ferts right away i would believe that due to a major trimming the plants need all the ferts they can get to begin creating new shoots ? i might be crazy though .

I don't think our dosing is so precise that it makes any difference whether we reduce fertilizing after a trim or not. If we are doing the EI method we will do another water change before the fert level builds up too high anyway.

O yeah, I forgot about that. I guess by the end of the week, I could do a water change and then dose the tank normally after that. That totally makes sense.

Be careful...Some people when they say they do trims, really do trims, an cut the plant mass in half.

Obviously if this is the case ferts will be towards the lighter side I hope.

If you are cutting the tops an replanting then it shouldn't pose a problem.
