So I've had a 29 gal Top Fin tank up and running for about a bit over two years now, and it has been humming along wonderfully. It's a freshwater community tank with an AquaClear 50 Filter, and a small powerhead to create a good flow around the tank. I keep the temp at ~78 deg. F.

The problem is that the 11.4 Watt double LED strip that has been lighting my tank all along has started flickering throughout the day. When I went to replace it, I found that not only does the fixture appear to have a little proprietary mounting system, but that none of the local suppliers will touch it since it's PetSmart brand, and PetSmart doesn't sell replacement parts.

I assume this means I have an opportunity to upgrade my lighting/lid as opposed to trying to track down a replacement TopFin LED cluster. Has anyone dealt with this before?

I currently have a timer and light the tank a total of 9 hours: from 8:30 -11:30 and from 5:30-11:30 daily.

Plants stocked:
Java Fern
Anubias Coffefolia
S Repens
Crypt Wendtii
Hygro angustufolia

Fish:
6 Cherry Barbs
10 Brilliant Raspboras
2-4 Amano Shrimp
2 Pearl Danio M/F pair
A number of random tiny snails

Definitely have not tried to rebuild a topfin light before. I am not sure if you are looking to build a light made into a hood, or if you are just looking for a light that will fit your tank. If just looking for the latter you have many options. Two examples, there are many more.

Try a new power supply..Just match the voltage, polarity and current(watts) More current(watts) is fine
Tubes might be fine but they also could be a bit faded from time ..LEDs do fade.

You probably could use an upgrade though.
