The crypts sat in the mail for 4 days and when I planted in low tech tank no melt. Now I set this monster up with more light and CO2, move the same plants into new system and they melt? Frustrating... I took 2 0f the 4 T-5's out to try and duplicate the original grow tank's strength. Fertilize yes as well.
I compared my light out put with a friends tank with a GE light meter. With 4 bulbs I was triple the output. I took 2 of 4 bulbs out and now I am exactly the same as his successful plant tank. My photoperiod was 10 hours. I will bring this back to 8 and watch for some positive reaction.
yes those hydrofarm lights have very good parabolic reflectors which is why there so popular with indoor growing. even with just two bulbs going if you dont have co2 its probably to much light just something to be aware of.
as far as sunburning goes you really should dial the hours down and slowly add an hour or two per week till there adjusted so u dont bleach them. so id tell u to cut the hrs to 5-6 max to start *depending on how bright your last light was*
did u go with the white or the better finish on the light?
Here you go. I agree about those reflectors. I put in 1 red light and 1 white to start with on this next rotation and I will do a 6 hour photoperiod, like from 10 to 4 and see how things do.
I put a cover on my CO2 reactor because it is exposed to sunlight and I was getting some algae growth.
