I had a 55 gal. tank split a seam last fall (2018) that was full of breeding Labidochromis Caeruleus. I didn't have any available tanks at the time so I threw them into my koi pond. I now have several hundred and it's beginning to cause a bio overload for my filter system in the 2500 gal koi pond. I live in mid-Florida and the water temps didn't get low enough to kill them. So now have to empty the entire pond, set up two holding pools and move the koi into one holding pool and the Labidochromis Caeruleus into the other. I'll have way more than I can give away to the local fish shops (yes give away). There is a cichlid farm in Lakeland, Florida I'm trying to give the rest to. Just a warning about having an extra few tanks available for emergencies.
To many fish mistake warning!

It amazes me how easy it is to breed fish in ponds vs indoor tanks.

It's all the fresh real food. Whether the fish are herbivores or leaning more towards the carnivorous side of things, what they need to eat at every life stage is usually in abundance.

Fresh food, yeah.
I never feed the fish in my 70 gallon outdoor pond. Their pond is in a sheltered area, surrounded by 3 walls but open to the sky, and I guess that's all they need.
I stocked this pond with a few 3 year white cloud minnows which never bred for me in the inside tank, and I assumed they were now too old to breed.
I could not have been more wrong.
I have hundreds of em now.
