That is the question? I am unsure if I "NEED" to - I find it a rather confusing topic to research.

I get the concept - Plants take in Co2, so if there is not enough they need it!

How do I know if there is enough...?

I have a 29 Gallon Biocube, for those unfamiliar with the setup read below. What are your thoughts. FYI - I am in process of converting to planted from Saltwater due to cost and maintence, want to avoid if able.


Regarding the Biocube Setup:

Depends on your lighting, ferts, etc. My 20g tall only has a single T8 the length of the tank and dosing Flourish + a bit of CO2 I noticed great plant growth. however, it's just a crypt/java moss/java fern tank right now so it's fine being low tech on its own.

I just went through this on my 36 gallon. After several threads phn calls and research I decided to get a co2 even tho I prob would get by with out one. It depends on the lights th plants and so many other things. The one thing that was consistent with the responses I received was the plants do better with it. Then I was like well its just a small tank so Ill just order one of those fluval co2 wrong. I went to lfs they had one for sell and told me it was a waist several people here told me the same thing and the reviews were mixed at best. So Ive ordered one now and Im waiting for it to get in. You should take a look at the threads I posted here I got tons of great feed back. Good Luck!
