A couple of years ago we got Florida Aquatic Nurseries tissue cultured at petsmart and some other local stores. Then this year aqariumplants.com and Tropica started selling TC plants in the US. At Aquatic Experience Aqvainnova and Dennerle had TC plants that they said of Facebook were being distributed by JBL and going to be in stores soon. Anyone know any details on these or if Tissue Cultured plants are going to take over and potted and bare root wont exist anymore. I noticed the prices are more than potted or bare root but not by much.

One big thing you have to remember in regards to Aqvainnova and Dennerle is that they will be importing plants into the United States. The USDA has strict requirements on the importation of plants into the US. It states that plants must be free of sand, soil, earth or other growing media ie rockwool with a few exceptions and agar-like tissue culture are one of them.

It is not like they are totally new to producing tissue culture plants. They are both very prevalent in the European market. There biggest hurdle was securing a company that would be there main import and distribute the product. I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing how it plays out for Aqvainnova after talking to the representatives at the Aquatic Experience and seeing the vast array and quality of plants they had.

I know that JBL is the distributor for Aqvainnova and Dennerle. I think Tropica never sold their 12 grow plants here because they couldn't sell their potted ones because they cant be imported. For some reason i thought even TC plants weren't allowed to be imported until recently.
