Hey guys

I think ive got thread algae. Its whitish and thread like (of course) and is abour 1-2 mm long. Ive got 2 tanks with E.I/30 ppm co2 and its the only algae that grows on the plants, it even grows on stem plants:icon_sad: Amano shrimp help but id like to know the cause and stop it.

Thread algae is green. Staghorn algae is lighter in color (or as you say on your island, colour) - very light gray. If, in fact, you do have thread algae, and it is white, then it is dying. A photo would help. In the even that you have a healthy crop of either - my advice - do your next couple water changes without adding ferts and see what happens. That advice comes from experience with both varieties.

edit: I retract that guess of staghorn. I didn't see that it was only 1-2mm. That is short. Thread algae and staghorn are both grow much longer. And it's white? Now I really need to see a photo.
