Hi guys,

So I have been struggling to get some coloration out of some rotala and also growth has been slow even with CO2 while using a nicrew deluxe LED. I especially have problems in the back corners.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Chihiros RGB A plus and wanted to get your thoughts.

1.) Do you think it will be more powerful than the nicrew deluxe? Hard to tell without a par test comparison I guess...

2.) Do you think it will disperse the light better to the corners of the tank?

3.) Do they fit rimmed tanks?

4.) Do you have any experience with these lights or thought on them in general?

I have a Chihiros RGB A plus 301 light with built in blue tooth and My Chihiros app based control. Fits rimless tanks like a charm. It comes with the option to stand the light on the tank but It also has hang on kit as additional accessory.

The intensity is good but not too strong when compared to the other models of Chihiros. I have not measured the par but I have referred to the manufacturers specification page. http://www.chihiros.cn/en/productd/m2/id412.html

App based control and you can ramp up ramp down, night light etc. There are default best settings for plants, fishes, shrimp etc they come with default intensities of the red, blue and green channels.

Unlike the older model where there are individual led for red, green, blue and white, the new mode has all channels on the same leds. So it has less number of leds and the heating on the housing is also very minimal.

Only downside is that in case of a power failure when the mains come back the light starts with the setting of 12 am. I am running the lights with an uninterrupted power supply to over come this issue.
