Just wanted to see what people's thoughts are on power outages. I know that a lot of reef aquarists go to great lengths to have backup power. Any of the planted tank guys have back up?
I never have in the past, I just make sure to have check valves if necessary to prevent water from overflowing on a sump, canisters you don't need to worry about since they're enclosed. Usually power outages don't last more than a day so for me I never really care too much about it. I would worry more about earthquakes than anything really.
I have a 3k generator that I can use if needed. Chances are that a major outage will be caused by an earthquake. I'll be boiling the tank water and frying the fish to survive. lol
