Hi folks, I'm setting up a 6 ft 100gal planted tank using garden soil capped with gravel and with sandy "bays". Water is moderately alkaline, hard water (pH 7.3, DH 13-14), fishless cycling now and will plant it heavily in September; I'm planning on getting a small group of Ellioti cichlids and have set up caves, smooth stones and hiding places at each end and a tall island in the middle so that if I can get them to breed there will be 2 natural territories either end and I might get some interesting boundary displays. Just wondering if I could safely include a pair of Cockatoos (A. cacatuoides) as well, or would they get harassed to death? For dither fish I haven't decided, either geographically correct livebearers or incorrect but beautiful rainbowfish. Any advice on the tankmates? Tank setup in the pic below (prior to soil addition). Thanks!
