Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of adding a small school of Pearl Gouramis to my tank, and was wondering if anyone had any comments to add. They would be going into a 125G tank with the following already there:

6x Boesmani Rainbowfish
8x Turquoise Rainbowfish
5x Siamese Algae Eaters
6x Denison Barbs
6x Panda Cory
6x Bronze Cory

I keep the water right around 75F, with a KH/GH of 8/12. I run CO2 injection, and my Ph goes between 7.8 and 6.5. I have an FX6 for filtration.

The reason I'm thinking about the Gouramis is that I don't have any fish in that level of the water column. The Rainbows dominate the middle, the Denisons, SAE, and Cory's are at the bottom, and the top is empty. I would like a top dwelling species that doesn't jump, and this is about the only reasonably large one I could find. Everything else is either really tiny, or will jump from the tank.

Does anyone see a problem adding this species?

More info is in my journal in my signature.

Pearl Gouramis will jump from an uncovered tank sooner or later, unless the surface is covered with floating plants.
