hi all
picked up some wood-fallen branches that were waterlogged near a lake by me
already wire brushed them twice
i have been soaking them in hot water and they smell --any suggestions???
is the smell going to go away???
if i add them to the tank will it harm it and stink up my basement???

hmmm this i odd it is probably just the fact that it has been sitting in lake for years it wont stink up your basement because it will be underwater just give it more time and look for mold termite holes ect, also i wouldnt trust a peice of wood from a lake in my tank try to find one in the woods or buy one.

Let it dry out. Bleach will help with the smell too.

Excuse me for my immaturity, I watch way too much The Office.

Have you tried soaking it in bleach water? Just make sure you rinse it super well, and then soak it in declorinator.

will it be better if i just cut it down myself from a dead tree
I only got these pieces because they were already sinkers-waterlogged
and I didn't want to wait for the sinking process.
