Day 139 of fish keeping. Potatoes have begun to sprout, thus launching phase one of their intended plan for tank domination. Pulse has decided that the potatoes are his friend and the camera is an enemy.

Odd, typically aquaponic grown food tastes really good as long as it gets enough nitrates and proepr ferts. What fauna did you use to feed the potato nitrates?

I'm just trying to grow a lot of roots. Betta fish like dense vegetation. It makes them feel safe.

Oh, lol, No, I grew them outside in the soil. Huge ones too, I had such high expectations, the mother potato tasted so good.

If you try again water it with removed tank water, may help-others with veggie gardens and tanks do this and swear it improves the plants size/flavor.

I do water our plants with tank water. My cacti love it the most. They don't need much in the line of water, but they can be heavy feeders if provided the opportunity.
I have one san pedro which is well on its way to about 10 feet tall now.
