If you keep fish / shrimp for algae control only then you are in for a bad surprise.

I have one SAE and one albino bristlenose pleco, bristle nose will out eat my SAE all day as the SAE has gotten lazy going after the fish food a lot here lately, sorry for any weird spelling I am on my phone

My favorite algae eaters are amano shrimp and nerites. They are relentless algae eaters.

However, the nerites to have a tendency to leave white eggs all over the place. I try them one at a time in the tanks I want to look nice. If eggs start appearing, it's into the growout tank with her. (The nerites in my growout tank love laying eggs on the heater. The heater looks like it's got a horrible case of acne.)

I also like the little horned nerites. So far, they have not laid any eggs in any tank I've tried them in. Either that, or the eggs are so tiny I don't notice them.

Otos are my favorite - they keep the glass nice and clean. Nerites are great for hard green algaes but I find they don't do very well in CO2 tanks.
