Last night I got about 6 neon tetras put them in my 20 gal high a month ago got 10+ neon tetras put those in a 5.5 gal.

I know I gotta wait to move the ones in my 5.5 to the 20 but how long?

Do I have to aclimate them to my 20 gal like new fish?

As The_Trigger says, If you can put them in a bag with tank water and drip feed or add a small amount of water from the new tank to it, let them sit for a while and watch. If they look ok add the fish and repeat the process. Do it in chunks of 3-4 fish per trip to save on stress and in case something goes wrong. For mine I used a small breading tank but small tank or bag is the same thing really. :)

If the water parameters are really close (which they typically would be for two tanks in your house) I just swap them over. So far I haven't had any issues - it seems silly to acclimate fish to basically the same water.

That said, I would wait until you know the ones you put in your 20 are not sick before adding the ones from the 5.5 to them.

Yeah you should acclimate them. If the temp And pH are close it shouldn't be as stressful. I'd do like 3 or 4 a week just to make sure you don't get a spike that will suddenly overload your bio load. I drip acclimate all my fish for about 1-2 hours and it always works great.
Can u give a quick process of what u do to drip aclimate?

I know u set up a bucket or tank with the fish u just got but do u pour all the water from the store in the bucket/tank or just some so they can swim and do you or should I use an air stone?

I just use a 2 gallon paint bucket I got from Home Depot. A secure a piece of Arline tubing inside the tank with a suction cup and suck on the end to get the siphon going and have a little airline valve at the end to control the drip rate. I usually go for one bubble per second and it usually takes about 1-1.5 hours, sometimes 2. Than just dump the whole bucket in the tank.

No if they're from the LFS I dump the water out. I meant tank to tank. If the waters from my tank than I know it's safe to dump it in my other tank ;)
