Hey guys,

Great new!!... For all you people that have t8 bulbs and always B*tched at how you could only find reflectors for T5 bulbs.... were in luck!!

The manufacturer's name is Arcadia... here's a link to them on ebay

Now I dont know how good they are or if its worth the 10 bux that they cost.. so lemme know if you guys think its a good investment...

that is good news, The ones on the link are only 18" long, the 48" is $20 plus 9.99 for shipping, kind of expensive. I emailed them asking them how wide are those
lemme know what they say... I was thinking about just getting some mylar... and just putting that on the sides of my shoplight fixture...

but I figure if these are good then why not just use them... the mylar is going to cost me around 30 bux anyways

Edit: hey I changed the link to the 48" size.. its actually only $18.99
the t5 are $19.99
anyone else on these reflectors?
ya, I was going to.. untill I did some more reading...
and it just seemed like going the t8 rought would be the best fit,
easier to find bulbs and mix a few different K's.
Even though im comming to find that I cant find a T8 10000k for the life of me.. I think they only make them for t12 which is alright i guess...

Now I'm dealing with an algea problem... not sure what it is the result of..
I'm pretty sure its a mix of fuz algae and hair algae
I know Zoomed makes a 10,000k bulb, I have six of them next to me. :)
hey burks,

How was that aquascaping meeting the other weekend... I wanted to go but something came up..

Where do they sell Zoomed bulbs

Edit: Found it..Petco (where the pets go) freakin 22 bux..

Burks - for your freshwater tank what is your temp combo of bulbs...

Right now I have 4xGE 6500k...and I'm thinking 2x6500k, 1x10000k, 1x5000k

I got a reply. They say the 48" reflector is 2 24" reflectors and they are only 2 1/2" wide, which is not good for t8s. That's how wide the icecap reflectors for t5s are, and the tekII are 3" wide, so 2 1/2" for t8s doesn't sound efficient, They should be around 4". If you still want to use the I would suggest getting the TEK II for about the same price, they are wider and also only one piece for 48". I was pretty excited about this ones, and I live close by so I was going to do a local pick up, but I guess is not worth it.
wow what a scam!!

Good investigation work!!

Thanks for the help and the advice!... guess we'll just have to keep searchin
Yeah I posted a while ago asking for T8 reflectors and the Arcadia's were mentioned. The problem then was I couldnt even find them for sale in the US. I just finally went the T5 route. Unless your going to settle for cheap local T8's the T5's arent really any more expensive then the made for aquarium T8's. Good reflectors are about the same, perhaps ballasts would be the only more costly parts, but even then you can find cheap ones usually.

It was actually pretty cool. Scott did a great job on it. Although it was saltwater only.

You can call Ocean Treasures or Trilby Tropicals to see if they will order ZooMeds. I know OT won't be getting another dry order in until the new year (company shuts down). I actually bought my bulbs off someone on eBay. All were brand new. Got like 10 bulbs for $29.

I have 2x6700k, 1x10,000k, and 1x9325k (or something like that, it's pink).

They actually grow plants well when OD in my experience and I do not use any reflectors. I chose to go that route because I have seen the most difficult plants in the hobby grown under NO T8 tubes so I decided to try. Based on my current algae free, great colors & healthy plant growth, I will continue using them over the more expensive options which have not given me anthing better than what I have now.....go figure :icon_bigg
hey burks

Whats the 9325 K bulb all about.... where did u get that one

Im guessing you have CF
ADA 8800K MH bulbs.
Astralux 8800K MH bulbs. I have two brand new ones I'm not using.
thanks but I'm lookin for t8 bulbs

Yeah I agree. I didnt mean to imply that they were horribly inferior, just more limited in choices unless your going to spend as much as the T5's anyway. Three out of the four T8's over my 75g are all $3.50 6500K bulbs from HD overdriven 2X. Some have even claimed the best growth with 3000K bulbs, but many dont like their look. So whats 'best' is going to vary from person to person and be a balance between what grows plants well and what is visually appealing in the tank usually.

Tris,

Thanks for clarifying :) .....couldn't have said it better myself
