Hi,

I'm planning on using quantum t6 lights for my tank but I currently have t8s
with what I suppose are t8 only endcaps.

You guys think I can simply use some sort of spacer to make it fit?

You don't need special endcaps. T6 bulbs are made to fit standard sockets, but have narrower middles similar to T5 bulbs. If the T6 bulbs you are getting happen to require the smaller bipin sockets they do make adapters for the T8 sockets. I can't recall exactly where I saw them, but if you google for them you should come up with something.

T5 "minature bipin" (also shorter than T8)

Been using Quantum Lightning Rods myself. Most all T6, T8, T10, and T12 will fit the same mounts (medium bipin). The exception would be the waterproof ones that are matched to the tube size, the smaller tubes would then not be waterproof I suppose. If your light fixture has metal clamps that hold the bulbs instead of the endcaps being mounted, you may have an issue unless you can bend them smaller.
