Hey guys, I am building my custom CO2 regulator and looking around for parts. I am lucky enough to have a Swagelok distributor in town (gotta love Portland, Oregon!) and, since I wont have to pay any shipping costs, looking very closely at their needle valves. It sure aint easy trying to decipher all their parts and figure out what will work, but I am looking at the B-2MG. Anyone have any thoughts or input? Any experience with this needle valve? Will it work well for what we do?

Stay away from the M series. Definitely not worth the cash if you're buying new. (you will only have about a 1/4 turn to play with.) If you want a Swagelok metering valve, go with a S series.

Air Component Specialties has a lot of good stuff, that's where I'm getting my Clippard mouse solenoid. They only have the ET-3M-24 and the ET-3-24 in stock but they can order the 2 if you need that. They also have Clippard needle valves and check valves.

I'm getting the Swagelok needle valve from Northwest Swagelok. Both of these places are in SE Portland.

Check out the local brew shops for regulators. I got my Cornelius at F.H. Steinbarts and my tank from Airgas, it was about $80 filled, 20 bucks cheaper than over at the wet spot.

Yeah I get mine filled at airgas. I refuse to shop at the wet spot they are way overpriced and not very knowledgeable at all.

Agreed. Have you checked out the world of wet pets in southwest? Pretty good selection and the prices are much more reasonable, though the quality of their plants is usually poor.

Cayes is typically where I go they don't know much about planted tanks but they don't pretend to either. They also buy all my trimmings and I will soon be supplying them with shrimp as well. It works great for me I never have to buy food , prime, excell, etc out of pocket. I have been to world of wet pets but I live in se and that's a little out of the way for me

Can I get a manifold to run 6 tanks from one of these places?
Air component specialties has manifolds, they should have something that will work for you. This is where Rex Griggs used to get all of his components. Give them a call and ask for Cliff, he's a really nice guy and should be able to help you out with anything.

Interesting I'm gonna have to split my co2 soon I'll keep this thread in mind.

I shop at world of wet pets a lot, well I used to. I stay away now after getting tired of a couple of their employees whoare usually rude. However the others are nice.
