So, I've got my planted nano split up between a dry start and wet start for my mosses, and as I was checking the water and quality today I saw something move in the plants. I managed to isolate it. It's a clearish shrimp baby. How he survived is beyond me, because I had no real food for him, and treated the plants for snails. That being said, I separated the little guy into a small bowl and gave him some algae flakes. Luckily, I got them ahead of time but I wasn't planning to add fauna to tank yet.

Oops.

Harry, the shrimp that lived, is now hanging out on my moss ball. Is there any way I can increase his odds of survival into adulthood? I'm quite taken by him and this would be my first shrimp.:icon_smil

If he lives and grows I'll take a photo. He's very tiny now.

Unless you plan on adding fish soon I would put him back into the tank. His odds of survival are bigger there than in a bowl. Seems like there was enough food/algae on the plants for him to live on.

The plants came with a bit of potassium permangate. He died the next day, but now I've got a real shrimp tank set up and a berried rcs that I got at my LPS with some others. They've all adjusted well and love their hidey spots among the cabombas and mosses.
