Superglue gel and fish

So my fissidens has grown out on a part of driftwood so I wanted to spread it across more driftwood. To do this I had to drain the tank down to 40% to expose the piece I needed to glue moss onto. I accidentally dropped quite a few drops of superglue gel straight into the water. It made this white film that I could scoop out pretty easily.

I have heard that superglue is aquarium safe once it cures... but of course I was worried that my fish would be ok... Well, as of writing this a day later they all look totally fine.

Basically: don't be afraid to use superglue in the aquarium! Probably best if you don't drop bits right in the water though lol

I've stuck pieces in right after gluing with no issue to plants nor fish. Two different types of superglue. I made sure they didn't have anything weird in it, though, as they do not all have the same ingredients, some I was looking served different purposes and had warnings about certain uses or about water. The vast majority were fine, however.

Thank goodness they didn't think it was food and chomp down on it!

Hadn't thought of this although I glue plants all the time. I'll have to feed first, glue second from now on so they're not hungry incase that happens to me. Most of my fish seem to bite first, ask questions later. At least with their tankmates poo...
Yeah it's fine, I started using it in my reef tank about 10 years ago and never had any problems. It cures fine under water if you hold the piece there for a minute or so.
I do it under water no need to drain water

do you just put a glob on and press it down quickly? how long until it no longer sticks? a few seconds at most?

I've also done it this way with the gel. As soon as it hits the water the outside of the glob skins over but stays gooey in the middle for a few seconds or so. Just line up your shot. One shot one kill.

However the advantage to the way you did it, is that you can get away with minimal glue. So less visible white crust around the contact point because less glue was used
