Sunsun 264 GPH filter has almost no flow. Due to snails?

Sunsun 264 GPH filter has almost no flow. I could not see anything on the spray bar even when lifting it out of the water. I had to disconnect the spray bar and could see a trickle of water coming out.

Could this be due to snails caught in the filter? My 55 Gallon shrimp tank does have a problem with tons of snails in the tank.

What do you guys think?

Try run the filter without any media and see the flow.
Have you checked the filter and impeller to see if snails are clogging it up?
1. See if the impeller is actually turning. Take the head of the filter off, and plug it into an outlet briefly. If it's not turning, something could be stuck in there, such as a snail.

2. If the impeller is turning, check the intake and intake tubing to see if they are clear.

Ok, I found the problem.

In the SUN SUN with the UV filter, the water comes in and goes into kind of a narrow ring around the bulb which is kind of a bottleneck. The water has to squeese in this little space that is so small that a snail can't fit thought. The entire ring was filled with snails and they were blocking the water passing though this area.

Also, I found some Red Cherry Shrimp in the filter somehow.

I don't have any idea how they got in but I placed a sponge filter over the water intake and placed a small sponge filter media inside the surface skimmer to help avoid this from happening in the future.

Now the water flow is a lot better.

Thanks.
