Cardinals need rock hard water, I think.

mistergreen, yep. pH is currently at 7.5, NYC tap water is 6.8-7.0

Gh needs to be high too. I remember NYC is pretty soft. Put some limestones in the tank to help.

I felt the same way the first time but then the opportunity went away for 3 years. They are so hard to find!
I think Sulawesi shrimp are a must have for any experienced shrimp hobbyist, even if you start out with 3-5 in your tank. This summer is the perfect time for me to gain experience in them and not have to worry about temperature fluctuations.
