This is my tank, i just finished planting it. Its a 29 gallon, running a AQ50 with eco-complete substrate. My problem is that i dont know if i can cycle my tank with the plants in there? Also i know i need different lighting on my tank for my plants to survive, but its to expensive :(, is there a way i can make something else for alot less until i get the money???
Please and thank you, i dont want my plants to die :(

Yes, you can cycle with the plants. Put a raw shrimp in there (the eating kind), or feed with fish food as if there were fish daily, or add pure ammonia daily.
Cycling wont hurt the plants.

What kind of light do you currently have on thier? If it is just the standars t12 that those 29 starter kits come with you will need to upgrade.
There are alot of ppl using those spiral CFLs now and they seem to work pretty well if you want a cheap DIY solution.

If you search online though you could probably find a t5 fixture for that relatively cheaply. Maybe $100. I would suggest a 2x24 30" Current USA freshwater fixture, their satallite series is pretty cheap/reliable.

It looks like you have purchased some rotala, anubis, and val. These were good choices and should be fine for a beginner.
The GC (ground cover) plant however looks like HC in that picture. That could be a problem as it is not ass hardy in a low tech setup.

THere is a coralife T5NO fixture sold at big als online that is roughly $56.00 that should work pretty well for you, although it might put you into med. light. You can also do what I did for my budget 10 gal and go to walmart and purchase some clip on desk lamps. about 8.00 each, You might need 3+ of them to get a good spread, Then you can get some 6500k CFL bulbs also from walmart for 5-6 bucks for a pack of two. That might land you at about 25.00-30.00 for lighting. I have holes drilled into the back end of the clip on the fixtures, and then I am using some anchors to attach them to the wall, it works pretty good, you can see pictures in my mini thread in the signature.

so i got these two lamps for 5 each and the bulbs where 7 each. They are 60watt. Is that enough???

are they listed as 6500k bulbs? You will need to watch now to see if you need to raise them off the tank more. It is a better light color than the bulb that comes with the stock fixture. As to which light category this puts your tank into, I am not sure, the 3 fixtures over my 10 gal puts me in high light territory, which requires that I use pressurized co2, but your tank is a bit deeper.

Having a cheap, low-tech tank is fine but you'll find out some plants will do better than others. All of your plants except the H. C. (low small plant)...
according to what mistergreen posted, i should be ok then?????? i made a diy CO2 producer, so that should help the plants right or do i need more because of the type of plants i have. Hopefully the small plant grows!!!!

the small plant (HC) is a high light plant, it will probably slowly wither in the tank. I would take a look at the links he provided and get as much info as you can. There is an alternative to HC called marsilea minuta that does good in low light scenarios. A low light tank is not going to grow quickly, so patience is key :)
ok guys thanks for all the imput it really helped :D. Another question though, how do i know whether my plants are doing ok???
