Hey All,

I'm worried the substrate is too thin in some places of the tank I just set up. Substrate I'm question is a very thin layer of boiled wormcastings and red clay capped with black diamond sand.

Now that things have settled, the substrate depth in the front where the DHG will be is a bit under an inch total which seems a bit thin to me.

So question is, should I pull up all the DHG and add more blasting sand? If so, should I do it now before the dwarf hair grass is rooted?

I'd say you want at least 2 inches. So do it sooner than later is my vote. I have a few sections of something closer to 1 1/2 inches and the roots on those plants are coming out of the substrate all over the place. They seem not to care and neither do I so that corner of one tank is just gonna stay that way. But anywhere I have 2+ seems to be much better for rooting plants.

HAHAHA, yeah, I stopped with the DGH and mostly just do Dwarf Sag. now.

Looks good though. Should give you a nice looking tank.
