Substrate for Fluval Spec
Does anyone have any experience with substrate for a planted spec with shrimp. I don't need much substrate and I don't want to buy a large bag and waist most of it if I don't need to.

I used ADA Malaya Soil (mixed normal type and powder). You don't really need the powder, and can get normal type in 3L bags.

I use fluval shrimp stratum in my spec. Same as fluval plant stratum I think except it is smaller. I have A LOT leftover though and I bought the smaller bag. Dhg is growing extremely well in the shrimp stratum though. Very healthy roots and its spreading quickly
