Substrate for a 30 gal

I have a large amount of 1 to 3mm gravel and a pack of Laterite. To start the 30 I am thinking a dusting of peat then a 1 1/2 to 2" layer of gravel with Laterite mixed in. Then another layer of 1 to 1 1/2" layer of plain gravel. Does this sound OK. Lighting will be 1x96W PC.Tank size is 36 X 12 X17.

If your doing alot heavy root feeders you might want to consider flourite or eco, but if your scape will be mostly stems, sounds fine.

Yeah I thought about flourite or eco but I can't get it locally and shipping is too expensive. I could use some fert tablets for root feeders if I decide to have any.

Yeah, I understand that. I can get it locally, for 40/bag... I think I have to find a different route to go to.
