I am getting a chiller for my aquarium because it's very hot in my house.

Im little confused as to what size tubing I need to connect to the chiller to the pump.

The chiller I am buying has an inlet size of 1/2" and an outlet size of 5/8".
The pump that I am going to use has an inlet and outlet size of 3/4" barbed.

Can I use the same size tubing to connect everything?
What does it mean by barbed? Do I need to get a special kind of tubing for this?

I'm sure this is a silly question by I am still new to all of this and have no plumbing experience whatsoever.

Thanks

You HAVE to match the tubing size to the barb size. And I really don't know how to explain barbed. Look at most any hose fitting and it's barbed. The barbs help hold the tubing on.

You are going to need 3/4" tubing to fit the pump and 1/2" and 5/8" to fit the chiller. And some adapters to go from the 1/2" to the 3/4".
