storing moss or other plants

I just bought a plant package from another hobbyist in town and there were more plants that I can possibly plant in my 20gallon long.

I had some moss left over that I was unable to plant at the time because I didn't want it to float. I want to adhere it to some type of driftwood/rock but at the current moment, I don't have anything.

Therefore, I'm currently storing the moss in a zip lock bag with a little bit of water to maintain the moisture. Anyone have any recommendations on how to prolong the life of the moss when storing it outside of the tank in terms of temperature, moisture, light?

Thanks

for moss, just place them in a container submersed and leave them under the sun.
change water everyday until you're ready to use them

I've actually done this before. I kept the bag under a lamp so it got light everyday, and flipped it over every now and then. I kept the moss like this for around 2-3 months and it came out perfectly fine when it was time for me to use it in a new setup.
Java moss is one of the most simple mosses to keep. Temperature doesn't seem to affect it much as I've had some growing outside in a trough through an east coast winter for a few years. Just make sure it stays wet, gets light and boom you're done.
