As the title implies, I have a suspicion that storage bins with wheels are useless for anything fish related. Can anyone confirm or repute my suspicions?
or i guess storing equipment if you tend to move it around alot. but for transporting water, i wouldn't. i feel like you lose a lot of water because of the high angle you have to hold it at to move it around.
If you already have one or can get one for free, it's the same as having a spare tank for quarantine, grow out, temporary home for fish while cleaning, tear down or even rescapes. If you're asking weather to purchase one or not, I wouldn't.
My sister was throwing out this 18g Sterilite tote so I buried it and made a pond.
The types I have tried were marginal at best. Round ones are somewhat better as the force of the water is against all sides. They may begin to leak after a certain number of fill/drain cycles as the plastic developes stress fractures at corners like the bottom. If you see the plastic changing colors, that is your warning!
But when using plastic with rectangle shapes, I found the sides bowed out way too much until I added wood to reinforce them. Buried, they would work much better as the dirt would support the sides.
