Stocking helpf for 6 g. nano????

I have a moderately planted tank that has been set up for a few weeks. It is a 8 g. aqueon cube; however, my calculation based on the size is 6 g. prior to adding driftwood and 2 inches of eco complete. It has a moderate intensity LED (equivalent to about 3 watts per gallon).

I have a Beta in there with 1 amano shrimp and 1 cherry shrimp.

I would like to add 6 gertrude's raininbowfish which are about 1" each but many folks on-line suggest that is TOO many fish.

Can this size tank handle this many fish? What will go wrong if this is overstocked? Any suggestions or ideas welcome.

I'd like to fertilize less in the future but I currently do Flourish Excel (recommended dose) every 2 days and Flouish Comprehensive as recommended by bottle.

Thank you!

I wouldn't worry so much about the amount as the type. Even if this betta has had other tankmates before I don't think I would trust one with those rainbowfish. The flashy finnage is just asking for trouble. If it doesn't work out do you have another tank to keep either them or the betta in?
Yes, I have a backup option for beta but he is really mellow. I was more curious about the bioload.
