Well i have a 150g.. its 72" long 18" deep and 24"in tall.

i want to have a med-low light, low tech (maybe DIY CO2).

It will be inclosed in a custom hood (that hasn't been made yet, waiting on the lights) on top.... looking to get ideas from the planted experts on lighting.

i can go with already made fixtures, or retro. the cheaper the better.
T-5, T-8, T-12, CF, regular Fluorescent, SHO bulbs.......
what lengths and wattage and spectrum's

i need to get an idea of what i need and how much it will be.

Thanks in advance

For a 6 foot long tank pairs of 3 foot long bulbs make a lot of sense. With the 18 inch front to back depth it would be best to have two rows of those 3 foot long bulbs across the length of the tank, with the rows 6-8 inches apart. If you can find good quality T5HO single bulb lights that would probably work best, and it would give you the amount of light you want. Here is a good possibility: http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=71_7_68&products_id=1124 but you would want to separate the reflectors so they are much farther apart. You can phone Catalina and ask if that is easy to do.
